Prof. Yong Huang and his team from Southern Medical University in China compared the clinical efficacy of acupuncture alone and in combination with oral anti-depressant drugs. They determined that administration of the drug alone or in combination with acupuncture can produce a significant effect in patients with primary unipolar depression. They also found that acupuncture produces a very fast therapeutic effect and produces a noticeable improvement in obsessive-compulsive, depressive and anxiety symptoms.
